Recent Progress in Materials Welcomes New Editorial Board Member

We sincerely welcome Prof. Mu-Ping Nieh from University of Connecticut, USA, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Dr. Nieh’s research mainly focuses on the studies of nanostructural-function relationship of soft self-assembling materials (including phospholipids, polymers, surfactants) and nano-composites (clay/polymer, gold nanocluster/lipid, quantum dot (QD)/lipid, metallorganic complex/lipid, etc.), providing fundamental understanding of structurally dependent functions such as morphology-driven cellular uptake for drug delivery systems, aggregation enhanced or induced emission (AEE or AIE) of nanoclusters or QDs by restriction-in-motion of surface ligand. He is an expert in small angle scattering (using X-ray, neutron and laser) and has more than 150 publications in the field of material research. He is a member of Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering and on the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports (Nature Publication Group). We sincerely welcome Dr. Luiz Henrique Capparelli Mattoso from Embrapa Instrumentation, Brazil, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Dr. Luiz Henrique Capparelli Mattoso coordinates several national research projects, in particular the research network on the application of nanotechnology to agribusiness. He has received several awards, including the State Governor's Award, the SEDAI Brazil Invention Award and the SCOPUS/Elsevier/CAPES Award. He is involved in the organization of several technical and scientific events as well as the editing of conference proceedings and books. He is a member of the editorial boards of several scientific journals and a scientific advisor to several funding agencies. He has more than 460 publications in materials science. We sincerely welcome Prof. Mizi Fan from Brunel University London, UK, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Professor Mizi Fan has both academic and industrial profiles previously developed at the University of Bath, the Building Research Establishment, UK (BRE) and Brunel University London. He is an expert in the field of fibre science and technology, nanocellulose and fusion technology, composites, recycling, zero/low carbon materials, and sustainable construction and energy conservation materials. Professor Fan has also an immense international profile with six international patents, seven books, and 360 peer review top journal and conference publications. He was the winner of the BRE Trust Award for outstanding achievement in European projects, BRE Trust Award for outstanding achievement in recognition of outstanding success in the EULIFE programme and in winning bids from IRTU, and the BRE Trust Outstanding Publication Awards on low energy materials for building construction. In addition, he has been the coordinator (Co-ord) and technical manager (TM) of several complex EU Framework projects, e.g. EU ’PANELS’ (Co-ord), ‘PERPAN’ (Co-ord), ‘RubWPC’ (Co-ord), ‘WoodRub’ (Project Manager), 'Fibcem', ‘Celluwood’ (TM), 'Rewobioref', ‘Iceclay’ (TM), ‘VIP4ALL’ (TM), and EU Horizon 2020 ‘GelClad’ (TM) and ‘Powerskins plus’ projects. He serves as independent reviewers for EU FP7, Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes, and many other international governmental S&T Foundation programmes. We sincerely welcome Dr. Flora Faleschini from University of Padova, Italy, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. She has supervised/co-supervised more than 100 thesis (bachelor and master) and seven PhD theses. She serves on the editorial board of several journals and has published many articles. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, 120 of them in referred ISI/SCOPUS Journals. Co-Author of the book “Sustainability Improvements in the Concrete Industry - Use of Recycled Materials for Structural Concrete Production”, Springer International Publishing, 2016. Prof. Alexandridis is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and the International Association of Advanced Materials. He has received numerous awards including the American Chemical Society (ACS) Schoellkopf Medal, Bodossaki Foundation Academic Prize in Applied Science, SUNY Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activity and in Teaching, and UB’s inaugural Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring Award. Alexandridis has served as chair of AIChE Area 1C: "Interfacial Phenomena" and on the executive committee of the ACS Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry. He is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology, co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences and Review Editor of the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents. We sincerely welcome Prof. Tai-Shung Chung from National University of Singapore, Singapore and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taiwan, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Prof. Chung is a Jade Mountain Chair professor (Yushan Scholar) at the Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology of NTUST, Taiwan. Before joining NTUST, he was a Provost’s Chair Professor at the ChBE department of NUS in 2011-2021. His research focuses on polymeric membranes for clean water, clear air, clear energy and pharmaceutic separation. In 2005-2008, he worked as a Senior Consultant for Hyflux, led and built its membrane research team. He became a Fellow in the Academy of Engineering Singapore in 2012 and received the Underwood Medal from IChemE (Institute of Chemical Engineers, UK) for exceptional research in separations and Singapore President’s Technology Award in 2015. He was a highly cited researcher in Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering by the Elsevier and Shanghai Global Ranking in 2016 and received Distinction Award in Water Reuse and Conservation from International Desalination Association (IDA) in 2016. He was also a highly cited researcher from Clarivate Analytics in 2018 and 2019. He was ranked as No. 6th and 7th in Chemical Engineering worldwide by the lists of “the top 2% scientists in the world” published by Stanford University in 2022 and 2020, respectively.
