We sincerely welcome Dr. Seetharama C. Deevi of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, United States, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Dr. Seetharama C. Deevi developed advanced materials, formulated the Exo-Melt Process for safe melting of intermetallics, and the Exo-Melt Process won the most prestigious, and coveted R&D 100 Award in 1995. Dr. Deevi directed a multi-million-dollar intermetallics program on alloy design, development, and manufacturing of iron aluminides into sheet form by diligently taking the program from a scientific understanding to commercial production in a matter of just two years. Manufacturing of intermetallic sheets with 4-6% ductility won an R&D 100 Award in 2000.

Dr. Deevi received a Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Science, a Master of Engineering with a specialization in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University. His career has spanned roles across Brown University, University of California, Davis, and Altria Group, Inc. He was a Visiting Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and an Academic Visitor at University of Cambridge. He served on the Editorial Boards of International Materials Reviews, Intermetallics, Journal of Materials Research, Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance. He was nominated as Chairman of the Board of Editors and has been a Member of the Board of Editors of the Research-Technology Management for over 15 years. He published over 150 archival papers with a Google citation index of 15,416, a h-index of 55 and an i10 index of 138. He received over 50 US patents on the alloy design, processing, and manufacturing of materials. He was elected as a Fellow of ASM International in 1999. He won ASM’s Allen Ray Putnam Service Award in 2001. We appreciate Dr. Deevi for his participation and support.
