A simple mathematical model to predict the hydrolysis rate is derived from a proposed kinetic mechanism of the reaction. The hydrolytic reaction obeys Michaelis-Menten kinetics with a simultaneous second-order enzyme deactivation. The model predictions closely agree with the experimental results.
