Recent Progress in Materials Welcomes New Editorial Board Member

We sincerely welcome Prof. Tai-Shung Chung from National University of Singapore, Singapore and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taiwan, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Prof. Chung is a Jade Mountain Chair professor (Yushan Scholar) at the Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology of NTUST, Taiwan. Before joining NTUST, he was a Provost’s Chair Professor at the ChBE department of NUS in 2011-2021. His research focuses on polymeric membranes for clean water, clear air, clear energy and pharmaceutic separation. In 2005-2008, he worked as a Senior Consultant for Hyflux, led and built its membrane research team. He became a Fellow in the Academy of Engineering Singapore in 2012 and received the Underwood Medal from IChemE (Institute of Chemical Engineers, UK) for exceptional research in separations and Singapore President’s Technology Award in 2015. He was a highly cited researcher in Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering by the Elsevier and Shanghai Global Ranking in 2016 and received Distinction Award in Water Reuse and Conservation from International Desalination Association (IDA) in 2016. He was also a highly cited researcher from Clarivate Analytics in 2018 and 2019. He was ranked as No. 6th and 7th in Chemical Engineering worldwide by the lists of “the top 2% scientists in the world” published by Stanford University in 2022 and 2020, respectively. We sincerely welcome Prof. Ki Buem Kim from Sejong University, Korea, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Dr. Kim is currently a full professor in the Department of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Engineering at Sejong University, and has authored more than 220 peer-reviewed papers. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Oxford in 2004, and worked as a visiting professor in Institute of Complex Materials at IFW-Dresden. His research focuses on (1) designing and characterizing metallic structural materials and applications of metal-based materials with excellent physical and chemical properties, and (2) understanding the materials behavior via systematic investigations on microstructure, physical and chemical properties. We sincerely welcome Prof. Zhuge Yan from University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Materials. Prof. Zhuge Yan is a Professor in Structural Engineering at UniSA STEM. Yan has lectured in several Australian universities for more than 20 years. She has a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Structural Engineering from Beijing, China, a PhD in Structural Engineering from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. Her main research interests include green concrete materials, fibre composite structures, and seismic retrofitting of masonry structures. She has published more than 200 SCI technical papers and has been invited as a keynote speaker at several international conferences. Yan has successfully supervised many PhD graduates. She has won several Australian and Queensland government awards and fellowships and attracted funding from Australian Research council and industry. She was the winner of 2018 South Australia Winnovation award in Engineering category. She is the current College of Experts of Australian Research Council (ARC). Luisa Barbieri graduated in Chemistry in 1990 at the University of Modena (Italy), got her PhD degree in Chemistry in 1994, covered the role of Assistant Professor at the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari” of UNIMORE and since 1st November 2001 she is Associate Professor (Chemical foundations of technologies, SSD CHIM/07). She is member of the Teaching Body of the Doctorate School Industrial and Territory Engineering "Enzo Ferrari". She has been member of the steering committee of the Division of Environment and Cultural Heritage Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (2013-2015). She is author of more than 190 publications in international and national journals (SCOPUS: 175 documents; 4172 citations; h index=38, August 2022), 2 patents and several lectures in international and national Conferences. Particularly important is her teaching/research activity in the environmental sector: National School on Wastes (Rimini 2004), Summer School of Advanced Studies “Waste recycling and new building materials: innovative technologies from geosciences and engineering” (Ferrara 2006), SAMWARE Strategies, Applications and Methodologies of WAste Recovery (Rimini 2008), National School on Wastes (Taranto 2011 and 2014); chief for the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in the regional environmental laboratory LITCAR/ENVIREN from 2005 to 2010; coorganizer of international and national events (Workshop “Engineering and Circular Economy: the Road to Sustainability, 2021, Spain; Congress "Engineering for the environment and the territory”, 2011-14-17 and International Workshop “Research and Innovation for a Sustainable Waste Management”, 2015, Italy); charter member of University spin-off EcoTecnoMat srl, active from 2011 to 2015.

Prof. Álvarez is currently working as Senior Lecturer at University of Navarra, Spain. His research focuses on development of self-cleaning and depollutant coatings and binding lime and cement materials with new photocatalysts, design of lime mortars for repairing Cultural Heritage by combination of admixtures and nanos-sized materials, encapsulation of toxic metals in cementitious matrices, etc. Prof. Álvarez has published 70 publications that have been cited over 2695 times with an H-index of 30.
