Prof. Soriano has served as Director of Food and Health Lab in the European Network of Living Labs (ENOLL), University of Valencia, Director of University Clinic of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Physiotherapy at Lluís Alcanyís Foundation-University of Valencia and Co-Director of Joint Research Unit on Endocrinology, Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics at University of Valencia-Health Research Institute Hospital La Fe, Spain. He has Degree in Pharmacy, in 1996, and Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, in 2018. He undertook a PhD in Pharmacy with an Extraordinary Doctorate Award in 2001. His clinical interests include clinical nutrition and the study of human gut microbiome and new biomarkers applied in nutrition, with over 210 peer-reviewed publications to-date, as well as 20 book chapters and books. He was Editor-in-Chief in the Spanish Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics (2016-2019). He has won two research (at Institute for Egg Studies and Group of Food Microbiology from The Spanish Society of Microbiology), two teaching (at the Professor Vicente Callao’s Charity-Teacher Association and Spanish Ministry of Education) and two development cooperation (at Valencia City Council and University of Valencia) awards. We sincerely welcome Prof. Leonel Pereira, from University of Coimbra, Marine and Environmental Sciences Center, Coimbra, Portugal, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Nutrition. Prof. Leonel Pereira has an undergraduate degree in Biology, a Ph.D. in Biology (specialty in Cell Biology), and a Habilitation degree in Biosciences (specialization in Biotechnology) from the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra, Portugal, where he is currently a professor. In addition to teaching at this university, he is an integrated researcher at the Marine and Environmental Sciences Center (MARE), Portugal. His interests include marine biodiversity (algae), marine biotechnology (algae bioactive compounds), and marine ecology (environmental assessment). Since 2008, he has been the author and editor of the electronic publication MACOI – Portuguese Seaweeds Website (www.seaweeds.uc.pt). He is also a member of the editorial boards of several scientific journals. Dr. Pereira has edited or authored more than 20 books, 200 journal articles, and 45 book chapters. He has given more than 200 lectures and oral communications at various national and international scientific events. He is the coordinator of several national and international research projects. In 1998, he received the Francisco de Holanda Award (Honorable Mention) and, more recently, the Mar Rei D. Carlos award (18th edition). He is also a winner of the 2016 CHOICE Award for an outstanding academic title for his book Edible Seaweeds of the World. Prof. Speeckaert trained at the Department of Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Immunology at the Ghent University Hospital from 2006 to 2010, focusing on the biology and clinical application of vitamin D binding proteins and their polymorphisms. He joined the Ghent University Hospital, Department of Nephrology in 2011, is currently Professor of Internal Diseases, Clinical Head of Nephrology Department UZ Gent, and has received a FWO Fundamental Clinical Fellowship. He is also serving as Associate Editor of ACB, Section Editor-in-Chief of JPM, Associate Editor of Frontiers in Immunology. His research interests include Translational Research, Clinical Research, Medical Education, Protein Chemistry, Nephrology and Epidemiology. Prof. Day trained in paediatrics in Christchurch, New Zealand, and undertook further subspecialty training in Toronto, Canada. After completing clinical and research training in Canada, he took up a clinical academic position at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He returned to Christchurch in 2009 and was appointed to Head of Department in 2010. His research interests include inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease and Coeliac disease, with projects focusing upon host-pathogen interactions in the gut (and how these relate to chronic gut diseases), intestinal inflammatory biomarkers, and nutritional aspects of gut diseases. We sincerely welcome Dr. Joanna Jerzyńska, from Medical University of Lodz, Poland, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Nutrition. From the beginning of her work as a doctor, her clinical and research interests were related to allergology. Working in the Department of Pediatrics and Allergology, she mainly deals with children suffering from bronchial asthma and allergic diseases, and the long-term cooperation (since 1999) with Columbia University in New York has resulted in many joint studies, including a pioneering study on the presence of allergies in cockroaches in Poland. She deals with the diagnosis and treatment of various allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, seasonal and chronic allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, allergic conjunctivitis, food allergy, urticaria and many others. She diagnoses, among others chronic cough, recurrent respiratory infections, adverse drug reactions. In 2018, she became the President of the Łódź Branch of the Polish Society of Allergology. In the years 2001 - 2019 she was the head of the NZOZ Medpuls in Łódź. Since 2005, she has been employed at the Clinical Department of Pediatrics and Allergology at the Pediatric Center. We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Salam A. Ibrahim, from North Carolina A&T State University, USA, to join the Editorial Board of Recent Progress in Nutrition. He is a research professor in the Food and Nutritional Science Program at North Carolina A&T State University.  For the past 22 years at North Carolina A&T State University, Dr. Ibrahim's research, teaching, and outreach activities were dedicated to addressing issues related to fermented dairy products and milk quality, with a focus on practical approaches to quality and safety of food products. More recently, his laboratory's work has focused on the viability and functionality of probiotic cultures in dairy products and probiotic supplements. His lab works with the dairy and nutritional supplements industries on practical methods to ensure high viability of probiotics in nutritional supplements. They have also studied the molecular characteristics of Lactobacillus strains grown under different environmental conditions and have developed a new technology that enhances the survival of probiotics during processing, as well as developing a new emulsion system to enhance the viability of probiotics in different food products. Furthermore, they have worked on a new cultivation system that allows for the production of high bacterial cell mass. Dr. Ibrahim's lab also has interest in research that focus on herbs and plants that have high concentrations of functional ingredients, such as essential oils and antioxidants. The Ibrahim laboratory has been working on the bioconversion process of these natural products into very potent functional and biological compounds. Dr. Ibrahim regular reviewer, member of different editorial board and guest editor of several journals of microbiology and food sciences. She is Assistant Professor with Aggregation in Food Technology and leads the Food Science and Health Group at IITA – a Research Institute of the University of The Azores, Portugal. Her scientific activity is mainly focused on the study of the relationship between dairy foods and health.
