This periodical is devoted to publishing high-quality peer-reviewed papers that describe the most significant and cutting-edge research in all areas of environmental science and engineering. Work at any scale, from molecular biology to ecology, is welcomed.

Main research areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Atmospheric pollutants
  • Air pollution control engineering
  • Climate change
  • Ecological and human risk assessment
  • Environmental management and policy
  • Environmental impact and risk assessment
  • Environmental microbiology
  • Ecosystem services, biodiversity and natural capital
  • Environmental economics
  • Control and monitoring of pollutants
  • Remediation of polluted soils and water
  • Fate and transport of contaminants

About This Topic

The challenge when implementing climate change mitigation plans is to ensure Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) reduction, while at the same safeguarding sustainable growth and development, that will enhance well-being by pursuing economic growth and preventing environment degradation. This is crucial for most of the vulnerable areas in the world, being already under multiple pressures such as desertification, water shortage and persistent urbanization.

Considering the importance of the theme 'Adaptation to Climate Change” in many sectors, Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research (AEER) has decided to dedicate a special issue to bringing together manuscripts that focus on enhance environmental and social sustainability.

We are looking for original articles from the those presented to OPENEARTH2 Conference but open to other authors not presenting communications in this event, that address the following topics:

Adaptation and LCA of agribusinesses and farming to climate change
Circular economy and bioeconomy
Climate change-risks and opportunities
Climate change-the role of stakeholders and policy makers
Decision making and support tools, web applications
GIS and remote sensing in agriculture
Water, wastewater treatment
Environmental education-The science of teaching

Original papers that address other related topics with evidence of their contribution to the state of the art are also welcome.

Keywords

Agriculture; Carbon Footprint; Environmental education; Life cycle assessment; Livestock; Sustainability; Urbanization; Waste management
