We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Pedro Martínez-Gómez, from CEBAS-CSIC, Spain, to join the Editorial Board of OBM Genetics. He is an international reference in Prunus Breeding and Biotechnology including Genetics, Genomics, Transcriptomics and epigenetics with more than 150 papers published in international journals included in the Web of Science. He also has 5 new apricot varieties, 4 new almond varieties and 1 new Japanese plum variety widely cultivated in Spain and Southern Europe where more than 5 M trees from these varieties are grown at this moment. In addition, he has been coordinator of 22 projects at the regional, national and international levels, as well as participating in 30 other projects and agreements with companies as a member of the research team. Throughout his research career he has participated in the scientific training of more than 70 students and researchers from 20 different nationalities. He has supervised 18 PhD Theses. Most of their former graduate doctors are, at this moment, junior and senior researchers around the world. In August 2006 received in Seoul (Korea) the "Miklos Faust International Award", an International Award of the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) and the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) for its contribution to the international fruit science research. In January 2012 he received in Teheran (Iran) the “Khwarizmi International Award” organized by the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) and the “FAO Medal Award” from the Food and Agriculture Organization for his contribution to the application of biotechnology tolls in the development of the fruit research in developing countries. In January of 2019, received in La Havana (Cuba), the “CITMA Award 2018” for their collaboration in the conservation of plant genetic resources in Cuba. We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Stasolla, from "Giustino Fortunato" University of Benevento, Italy, to join the Editorial Board of OBM Genetics. Prof. Stasolla is an Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology at “Giustino Fortunato” University of Benevento (Italy). His interests deal with assistive technology-based programs and rehabilitative interventions to promote an active role, independence, and self-determination in individuals with neurological disorders and severe to profound and multiple disabilities. Additionally, he is interested in aided-alternative and augmentative communication strategies to support communication skills in non-verbal individuals. Recently, he fits virtual reality setups, new and wearable technologies, a. nd telerehabilitation for both assessment and recovery purposes in persons with neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Furthermore, patients with acquired brain injuries either in a vegetative state, in a minimally conscious state or emerging/emerged from it are usually targeted along his research’ interests. Children with attention deficits hyperactivity disorders, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, rare genetic diseases, Alzheimer or Parkinson diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or lateral sclerosis are finally included. On that specific topic, he authored several international papers published in peer-reviewed Journals. He also edited “Understanding Children with Cerebral Palsy” (NOVA Publisher, 2020), Rett Syndrome: from diagnosis to treatment (NOVA Publisher, 2021, Fragile X syndrome: from Diagnosis to Treatment (NOVA Publisher, 2022), and recently edited a new IGI Global volume entitled “Assistive Technologies for assessment and recovery of neurological impairments”. Recently he is a Principal Investigator in different projects on new technologies mediated by augmented, virtual, and extended realities, serious games, and telerehabilitation. Finally, he is an Associate Editor for Technologies (MDPI Journals), and Frontiers in Psychology (Neuropsychology Section). Currently, he is in the process of editing a new article collection (as Guest Editor) on the Integration of the Technology in Clinical Settings for Frontiers in Psychology, Section of Psychology in Clinical Settings, and on An Interdisciplinary Approach Towards a Greater Understanding of the Quality of Life in Chronic Mental Illness for Frontiers in Psychiatry, Section of Social Psychiatric and Psychiatric Rehabilitation.. We sincerely welcome Dr. Masahiro Sato, from National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD), Japan, to join the Editorial Board of OBM Genetics. He obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from the Kagoshima University School of Medicine, and later spent ten years at the Laboratory for Pathobiology, Pharma Research Laboratories, Hoechst Japan Ltd. (Kawagoe, Saitama, Japan), where he produced disease mouse models for Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis. In April 1996 - March 2006, he spent at the Department of Molecular Life Science, Tokai University School of Medicine (Isehara, Kanagawa, Japan) as Professor (Assistant), where he engaged in developing novel technologies, as exemplified by cell-lineage analysis in mammals using Cre-loxP system and testis-mediated gene transfer (TMGT), a technique without using microinjection-based transgenesis. In April 2006 - March 2021, he spent at the Gene Expression Regulation Section, Frontier Science Research Center, Kagoshima University (Kagoshima, Japan) as Professor, where he engaged in developing novel technologies related to reproduction and molecular biology as well as producing genetically modified piglets suitable for xenotransplantation. Notably, during these periods, he and his colleague Prof. Masato Ohtsuka (Tokai University School of Medicine) succeeded in developing i-GONAD, a novel method for creating genome-edited animals through in vivo genome editing. In April 2021 – Present, he is studying reproduction engineering-related research at NCCHD as Senior Fellow. We appreciate Dr. Masahiro Sato for his participation and support.
