Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research Welcomes New Editorial Board Member

We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Christian N. Madu from Pace University, New York, United States, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research. Prof. Christian N Madu is a leading scholar and expert in the areas of chemical safety and security management, sustainability management, disaster risk reduction, process change and quality control. In 2017, he was appointed by the United States Department of State - CDRF as the lead Subject Matter Expert to run training on chemical safety and security in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. This training which recently concluded took him through the entire country. He has published extensively in his areas of research interests and his recent books include the Handbook of Disaster Risk Reduction & Management (2017) and Handbook of Sustainability Management published in 2012. Both books were published by the Imperial College Press and World Scientific Publishing, UK. He has written best seller books on sustainability management. Some of his books in the sustainability management area include the following titles Environmental Planning and Management (Imperial College Press, London, 2007 – best seller), Competing on Quality and Environment (Chi Publishers, CT, USA, 2004), Handbook of Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing (Kluwer Academic Publishers, Boston, MA, USA, 2001), Managing Green Technologies for Global Competitiveness (Quorum Books, Westport, CT, USA, 1995). He is currently working on a book titled Sustainability in the Niger Delta Area of Nigeria and editing the 2nd edition of the Handbook of Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing to be published by Springer Press, USA. Prof. Madu has published more than 150 articles in leading academic journals including Land Use Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainable Cities and Society, Expert Systems with Applications, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, Decision Sciences, Journal of Operational Research Society, Mathematical and Computer Modeling, Computers & Operations Research, European Journal of Operations Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics Letters, IIE Transactions, Long Range Planning, Socio-economic Planning Sciences etc. and more than 15 books by leading publishers in the world such as Springer, Kluwer, Greenwood, Imperial College Press, Chi Publishers, and World Scientific Publishing . He holds more than 6780 citations of his research works with an h-index of 42. He is also at 92.5 percentile of all the scholars at ResearchGate has more than 72 publications in Thomson Reuters indexed impact factor journals. He has also won several research and teaching awards and he is the recipient of several grant awards. He has reviewed for many international grant agencies including the United States National Science Foundation, SABIC Research Proposals in Saudi Arabia, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and has served as an external reviewer for PhD thesis in countries such as the United States, Australia, and India including three different centers of the Indian Institute of Technology. He was at one time, a Visiting Research Scholar at Hong Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong. Prof. Madu served as editor of the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management for 20 years. He was also the Topic Editor of Environmental Decision Making, Encyclopedia of Earth (National Society for Environment, USA) in 2006. He is on the editorial board of more than thirty academic journals and receives numerous unsolicited invitations to serve on different boards and dissertation committees around the world. He has also presented frequently to several agencies of the Federal Republic of Nigeria including NESREA, NEMA, Raw Material Research Council, Federal Ministry of Science & Technology, Federal Ministry of Labor & Productivity, and the Federal House of Representatives Committee on the Environment. He is a Fellow of Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), Nigeria Institute of Strategic Management (ISM), and Institute of Policy Management Development. Prof. Madu has also consulted for several international organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Con Edison, International Bottled Water Association, Drinking Water Research Foundation. He also initiated and ran the Process Change Initiative workshops for several university including Yeshiva University, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Pace University, and University of Nigeria. We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Sunliang Cao from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR, China, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research. Asst. Prof. Cao obtained his Doctor of Science (Technology) degree in April 2014 from the School of Engineering at Aalto University (formerly known as Helsinki University of Technology), Finland. His Master of Science degree was obtained in June 2010 from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, while his Master’s thesis project was conducted at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. Before joining PolyU in 2017, he had been successively employed as a research assistant, doctoral researcher and postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University, Finland, since 2010. Moreover, in January and February 2016, Dr Cao also worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE), Germany, for joint research between Fraunhofer ISE and Aalto University. His main research expertise is in the fields of low-energy and zero-energy buildings, advanced on-site renewable energy systems, building integrated energy storage solutions, HVAC technologies, and the integrations between buildings, hybrid smart grids and new energy vehicles. He participated in the IEA SHC T44/HPP A38 and IEA EBC A67 as a Finland representative and observer, respectively. Prof. Dr. Paolo Maria Congedo is an outstanding scholar who experts mainly in Renewable Energy Technologies, Building Materials and Energy Efficiency in Building. He received a degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Lecce on April 18, 1997. from January to December 1999, he conducted research at Princeton University, New Jersey, USA. in September 2000, he worked for one year as a Production Engineer Level 6 at the Agusta S.p.A. - Brindisi plant, where the workshop was in charge of the production of aeronautical components and the assembly of helicopter structures. in February 2002, he received his Ph. In February 2002, he obtained a doctorate degree from the University of Lecce, specializing in "Energy Systems and Environment". Since 2023, he is a member of the working group "Energy" of RUS, the network of universities for sustainable development of the University of Salento. We sincerely welcome Prof. Dr. Ferdinando Salata from Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy, to join the Editorial Board of Advances in Environmental and Engineering Research. Dr. Ferdinando Salata is currently Researcher (of Type B in accord with the Italian legislative - in Tenure Track) at Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Astronautical, Electrical and Energy Engineering (DIAEE) for the Scientific Sector ING-IND/11 (Italian Accademic Sector 09/C2). He graduated in Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Energy at the University of Rome "Sapienza" in 2003. He completed his PhD in "Technical Physics" in 2008 at the same University. In his thesis work, he studied the use of ultraviolet radiation coupled with HEPA filtration for the disinfection of airborne biological contaminants in air conditioning systems. After completing his PhD, he was a research fellow until 2017 in the Department where he completed his thesis. During this period, Ferdinando was awarded the title of "Cultore della Materia". In 2017 he obtained from the "Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca" the "National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor" for the Italian Accademic Sector 09/C2 (Applied Physics and Nuclear Engineering). In the same year he joined DIAEE as a Fixed-Term Recruiter of Topology A (RTDA, for the next 3 years and renewed for the next 2). He is a member of the Italian National Association of Applied Physics. In recent years, he has carried out in-depth research into the optimisation of energy demand in buildings; cogeneration systems; urban microclimate; thermal comfort in the outdoor environment; energy optimisation and reliability of air conditioning and lighting systems; natural ventilation in buildings; desalination using absorption machines; thermal conductivity problems in soils. Dr. Nurin Wahidah binti Mohd Zulkifli is an esteemed Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. She holds a distinguished academic background, having earned her Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, followed by a Master’s degree (MSc.Eng) from Monash University, Australia, and a Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Tribology from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Dr. Zulkifli's expertise lies in combustion and fuel engineering (tribology), which is reflected in her impressive scholarly contributions. With a remarkable publication record of 112 research articles in both national and international journals, she has garnered 3868 citations and an H-index of 38. Furthermore, she has exhibited exemplary mentorship by successfully supervising several PhD and master students from various countries.
